Project Description:
Survey the literature in the following areas:
- Traditional animation techniques.
- Cognitive modelling for virtual and robotic characters.
- Human-animal therapy.
- Human-robot therapy.
- How children (and therapy patients) interact with different toys.
Design a simple ~3DOF interactive robot/toy for use in some form of robot-assisted therapy. For example, for children to read to. The robot/toy should be able to respond to broad changes in the humans behavior, such as changes in features of the human's voice, and minimally attend to the human and the primary object of the human's attention. The robot/toy should be simple but engaging and use elements from the animation and cognitive modelling literature.
If time allows, implement design in hardware or software simulation.
